You can enable your business line for texting by following these steps. The process involves submitting a request, verifying ownership, and completing the hosting setup with Twilio.
Step 1: Submit Your Request
1. Open the Smart Line app.
2. From the options under settings select Business Line Texting
3. Fill out the request form and wait for our support team to contact you with next steps.
Step 2: Hosting Process
Our communication carrier, Twilio, will assess if your number is ready to be hosted. Here’s what they check:
Landline Requirement
- Your number must be a landline.
SMS Routing Profile (SPID)
- If an SMS Routing Profile exists on your number, you must contact your current carrier's SMS routing department.
Once your number meets these conditions, the following steps are required:
- Verify Ownership
- Our support team will guide you through the ownership verification process.
- Sign the Letter of Authorization (LOA)
- You’ll receive an email with an LOA and instructions on how to sign and return it online.
- Carrier Processing and Testing
- Twilio will conduct final processing and testing to ensure everything is set up correctly.
- Complete Hosting
- Once testing is complete, your number will be hosted with Twilio, and texting functionality will be activated.
Important Information
Before you submit your request, keep the following in mind:
- Texting and Messaging Features
- Your business number will support all text campaigns and one-on-one messaging through Referrizer.
- Loss of Previous Texting Functionality
- Texting services with your current communication carrier will be disabled and transferred to Twilio.
- Referrizer Smart Line Number
- The Smart Line number you have received from Referrizer will remain in place for calls; incoming calls will be forwarded to your business number (we will port only texting capabilities of your number).
- Complete Any Existing Integrations First
- Finalize any integrations with your current carrier before requesting the change.
- Contact Data Loss
- Contacts saved with your previous carrier will not transfer to Twilio, so back up any important data.
