DomainKeys Identified Mail (DKIM) is an email authentication method designed to detect forged sender addresses in email (email spoofing), a technique often used in phishing and email spam.

DKIM is a standard email authentication method that adds a digital signature to outgoing messages. Receiving email servers that get messages signed with DKIM can verify that messages actually came from the sender, and not someone impersonating the sender.

Benefits to the client: 

1. The DKIM option should significantly reduce the likelihood of your email message being sent to the spam folder.

2. Emails sent by Referrizer on the client’s behalf will no longer be signed as “sent via Sendgrid” (Referrizer’s email provider), but instead, each email will be signed with the clients’ own signature.

Problem: 

Client has a security policy at their domain that does not allow emails to be sent from a third party. Client wants to send the email from their own domain, and have the DKIM setting switched on in their domain (DMARC policy). 

Up until March 2023, Referrizer wasn’t able to accommodate this request.

Solution: 

Starting March 2023, Referrizer can enable this function to send emails from Referrizer’s application (for any email communication).

The purpose of the steps below is to authenticate Referrizer for sending emails on the client’s behalf, so that less emails will go to spam.

There are multiple steps to follow:

1. Client to send Referrizer their domain name (e.g. test@referrizer.com)

2. Referrizer will generate a key (that has three records) that will be sent over to the client.

3. Client responsibilities: please, have a qualified person (e.g. web admin) who knows what they are doing to perform the tasks below:

1. add this key (and its three records)  into the host domain DNS records (as per Cloudflare example below; Google, Microsoft and other providers’ screens should be similar):

After adding these records, your screen will look something like this:
