You can easily let customers subscribe by scanning a QR code that opens a pre-filled SMS. In this article, we’ll walk you through creating one using a free tool.
We’re using QR Code Generator - Create QR Codes for Free in this example, but you can use any other QR code generator that supports SMS.
Step-by-Step Instructions
1. Go to QR Code Generator
2. Select the “SMS” option
3. Enter your Smart Line number in the Phone Number field.
4. Enter the keyword SUBSCRIBE in the Message field. This is the message users will send to opt in.
5. Click the “Download” button to save your QR code image.

Where to Use the QR Code
Once downloaded, you can add the QR code to:
- Printed posters
- QR stands at your reception or events
- Flyers, brochures, or any marketing material

No matter where the QR code is placed, make sure the accompanying copy includes a fine print disclaimer for legal protection. For example:
