How Are My Call Minutes Counted?

Your plan includes a set number of call minutes each billing cycle. This article explains which calls count, how minutes are rounded, where to check your usage, and what happens if you go over.

What counts toward your call minutes

Call minutes come from connected calls on your Smart Line, including:

  • Incoming calls to your Smart Line number, including calls forwarded to your business line
  • Outgoing calls you make from Referrizer, for example from the call button in your Inbox
  • Quick Connect calls that connect

Calls that never connect, or that end before any talk time is recorded, don’t use minutes.

How minutes are rounded

Each call is rounded up to the next full minute. Any part of a minute counts as a full minute for that call.

  • A 10-second call counts as 1 minute
  • A 1-minute 5-second call counts as 2 minutes

Rounding happens per call, so many short calls can use more minutes than their total talk time suggests.

Note: Your call reports under Smart Line show each call’s actual length. Your usage on Billing shows the rounded minutes, so the two numbers won’t match exactly. That’s expected.

Where to check your usage

  1. Click your Logo in the top right corner and select Billing from the dropdown.
  2. Under Plan & Usage, find Credits Usage.
  3. Open Call minutes remaining. On some plans this is labeled Call minutes spent.

You’ll see:

  • Call minutes remaining: your included minutes minus what you’ve used this billing cycle.
  • Included in plan: how many call minutes your plan includes each billing cycle.
  • Overage sent: minutes used beyond your included amount, followed by your per-minute rate in brackets. Hover over Overage sent to see: “Overage credits are used once your plan credits run out.”
  • $ this billing cycle (on the right): your estimated overage charges so far.

Note: As shown under Credits Usage: “Usage numbers are not shown in real time, they are updated every hour.” Most calls appear within an hour, but a recent call can occasionally take a little longer.

How your usage resets

Your call minutes follow your billing cycle, which is the same cycle shown next to Next invoice on. Your included minutes reset at the start of each new cycle.

Multi-location accounts: If your location is part of a corporate account, call minute usage may be billed to the main account’s subscription. Each location can still see its own usage on its Billing page. If you’re not sure who pays overage for your location, contact our support team.

What happens if you go over

  • Your calls keep working. Calls are not blocked when you use all of your included minutes.
  • Extra minutes are charged at your plan’s per-minute overage rate. You can find this rate on your Billing page.
  • Overage charges appear on your next invoice, together with your plan.

Unlike text credits, call minutes have no top-up or Auto-Refill option. To include more minutes each cycle, contact our support team about your plan.

Good to know

  • If your usage looks higher than expected, check for many short calls. Each one counts as at least 1 minute.
  • If your usage looks off, check the dates of your current billing cycle. Recent calls usually appear within an hour, but can occasionally take a little longer.
  • If you don’t see Credits Usage on your Billing page, your account may be on an older billing setup. Contact our support team to confirm how call minutes are billed for your account.
